Native Pensacolian Will Hedgecock will perform in concert September 19 at the historical and newly renovated Saenger Theatre in downtown Pensacola. The show will be taped in high definition to air on local PBS TV Station WSRE in the fall, and a portion of net proceeds will be donated to support the work of WSRE, PBS for the Gulf Coast, in the local community. The concert will feature the Nashville recording artist performing songs from his recently released album “Reflections” including timeless Pop, R&B, and Adult Contemporary standards, as well as classical and Broadway favorites. Musical arrangements for the concert will be designed by the legendary arranger Bergen White.
Hedgecock’s new album was produced by music industry veteran, Larry Butler. Butler, the first — and only — Nashville producer to win the coveted Grammy Award for “Producer Of The Year,” has shaped the careers of superstars Kenny Rogers, Johnny Cash, John Denver and others. Many will remember Hedgecock from the Rebuild Northwest Florida benefit concert after Hurricane Ivan, which helped to raise $100,000 for storm victims.
Tickets won’t be on sale for some time, but WSRE viewers can get a jump on the best seats by watching and supporting the station with a donation this Sunday, May 31 at 7 and 9 p.m. when “An Evening with Will Hedgecock” will air on WSRE. This program features the young talent during the 2005 hurricane benefit concert. Funds raised will be used to help support the mission of WSRE and to provide more original programming for the community to enjoy. For more information, call WSRE (850) 484-1240.
