Thursday, November 18 at 7:30 p.m. on WSRE, “Conversations with Jeff Weeks” welcomes Dr. Ken Ford, the founder and CEO of the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC). Dr. Ford is an expert at applying academic research to real world activities. His world-class research center, IHMC, works with top-tier companies and government agencies including NASA. On “Conversations,” Dr. Ford shares insight on how technology and modern science are making an impact on our lives. From space exploration to medical devices, the ability for humans to leverage the power of machines and technology has never been greater.
Dr. Ford has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Tulane University, and has authored and coauthored numerous scientific papers and books. His ability to apply academic research to the real world is unparalleled — a talent that has garnered attention from NASA. His long association with the space organization includes developing and directing the Center for Excellence in Information Technology at the Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley. Dr. Ford is a recipient of NASA’s Outstanding Leadership Award and its Distinguished Public Service Award and currently serves as the chairman of the NASA Advisory Council. In addition, he has served on the National Science Board and the Air Force Science Advisory Board. Recently, Dr. Ford expanded the IHMC, his world-class scientific research organization, to include an office in Ocala, Florida.
“Conversations with Jeff Weeks” is a half-hour, weekly series that is “personality-driven,” featuring in-depth discussions with unique individuals and leading newsmakers from all walks of life. The program airs Thursday nights at 7:30 p.m., Friday nights at 9 p.m. and Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. on WSRE, PBS for the Gulf Coast.
