Congressman and US Senate Hopeful Kendrick Meek Guests - This Friday on "Conversations with Jeff Weeks"

This Friday at 9 p.m. on WSRE, “Conversations with Jeff Weeks” welcomes Congressman and U.S. Senate hopeful Kendrick Meek. He began his career as a state trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol, but later decided he could be more effective helping to shape future legislation instead of enforcing it. He resigned from his job and ran for a seat in the Florida House of Representatives, won and served there from 1995 to 1998 and in the Florida Senate from 1999 to 2002. In 2002, Kendrick was elected to represent the 17th Congressional District of Florida, which includes parts of Miami-Dade and Broward County. He was elected to his fourth term in the U.S. House in 2008 and serves on the House Ways and Means Committee. The son of a retired Congresswoman, Meek is married to the former Leslie Dixon of Brooklyn, New York, and they have two children.

Meek is considered by most as the Democratic frontrunner in the upcoming race for United States Senate in Florida. Congressman Meek sits down with Jeff Weeks and discusses issues facing the state of Florida, as well as the nation as a whole. During the in-depth conversation he shares his thoughts on many important issues such as healthcare, energy and national security.
