WSRE's StudioAmped Concert Series Features The Gills - Free Concerts, Original Music, Every Friday

Craving open-minded rock and roll with a vintage twist? The Gills might be your fix this Friday Night at WSRE’s StudioAmped! This band has opened for Sheryl Crow, played with bands like the Plain White T’s, and has toured everywhere from New York to Austin and Key West to St. Thomas with an incredibly unique tone and sound that can’t be matched. Band members include Jesse Wheeler (vocals, guitar), Nathan Dillaha (guitar), Andy Prince (bass), Matt Prince (drums) and Allan Castleberry (piano, keys). If you like good, original music and are looking for something fun and free to do on Friday nights, StudioAmped, presented by GoPensacola.com, is the place to be. With a wide variety of musical genres such as rhythm & blues, rock, western swing, indie and country, the series will appeal to music-lovers of all ages. All concerts will last approximately 90 minutes. Each of the eight concerts will be made into a one-hour TV program and air on WSRE Thursdays starting April 8, 2010, from 9-10 p.m. with a repeat the following Wednesdays from 10-11 p.m. For those that can’t make it to the concerts, TK101 will be streaming them live on their website at www.tk101.com.

WHAT: StudioAmped is an eight-week concert series, produced by local PBS TV station WSRE, featuring regional bands performing original material.

WHEN: Every Friday night from January 15-March 5, 2010. Doors open at 6 p.m. Concerts start at 7 p.m.

COST: Free and open to the public.

WHERE: WSRE Jean & Paul Amos Performance Studio on PJC’s Pensacola campus (corner of 12th Ave. and College Blvd.)

BONUS: Free pizza, soft drinks and energy drinks will be provided before each of the concerts starting at 6 p.m. Free one-time passes to Seville Quarter for all 18+ attendees will be given out.
