Florida Senators To Conduct Public Workshop at WSRE Studio July 12

The Florida Senate Select Committee on Florida’s Economy will hold a public workshop on Monday, July 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the WSRE Amos Performance Studio on the campus of Pensacola State College. The workshop is free and open to the public.

The Committee will receive testimony and discuss potential legislative action regarding the economic consequences of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. The discussion and testimony during this workshop will include, but is not limited to:

- Tax Relief for affected property owners

- Damages and claims related to the event

- Changes, which may be necessary, in the regulatory environment pertaining to economic recovery

- Performance of Local Government, State Government, Federal Government and British Petroleum in addressing the economic impact of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, and

- Barriers to an aggressive State response to the Crisis.

Members of the Senate Select Committee include Senator Gaetz, Chair; Senator Ring, Vice Chair; Senators Alexander, Bennett, Gelber, Haridopolos, Hill, Lawson, Negron, Richter, Sobel and Thrasher.
