The Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has nominated WSRE’s original documentary “Gulf Islands National Seashore: The Treasure of the Gulf Coast” for the coveted Emmy® Award in the documentary (topical) category. WSRE is the Gulf Coast region’s local PBS television station covering southern Alabama to Okaloosa County in Florida. The awards will be announced Saturday, December 4 at an awards ceremony in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
“Gulf Islands National Seashore: The Treasure of the Gulf Coast” is a WSRE original documentary that premiered in Fall 2009. Narrated by Ken Burns and filmed in high definition with breathtaking, visually stunning footage, “Gulf Islands” showcases the beauty of the national seashore and tells the story of how it came to be preserved. This is the third award recognition for the WSRE original documentary. “Gulf Islands” also won a 2010 Bronze Telly Award in the original documentary category as well as the 2010 People’s Telly Award for original documentary.
