Professional Golfer Jerry Pate on the Next "Conversations with Jeff Weeks"

Friday, March 26 at 9 p.m. on WSRE, “Conversations with Jeff Weeks” welcomes professional golfer Jerry Pate as he shares his personal stories of life on the PGA Tour. From the U.S. Amateur Championship to the U.S. Open, Jerry Pate has captured some of golf’s biggest prizes. Host Jeff Weeks sits down with Jerry Pate to discuss his remarkable career; from the highs of winning on some of golf’s biggest stages to battling a career altering injury.

As a competitor and member of the PGA Tour since 1975, Jerry has competed in more than 400 professional golf tournaments. Early in his golfing career, Jerry garnered eight Tour victories and seven foreign wins, including the Tournament Player's Championship in 1982, and the ultimate crown, the 1976 United States Open. He also won the 1974 U.S. Amateur at Ridgewood Country Club in New Jersey, and has competed on the Walker Cup and Ryder Cup teams. Jerry has worked as an expert golf commentator including six years for ABC Sports, five years for CBS Sports and two years for BBC Sports London. Jerry’s creative marketing sense for the game included becoming the first to play and win with the orange golf ball in the 1980s and performing his memorable dive into the lake on the 18th green after winning the 1982 T.P.C. Championship at Sawgrass. Shoulder injuries shortened Jerry’s’ PGA Tour career, yet he has kept busy as a popular golf commentator, renowned course designer and successful businessman.

“Conversations with Jeff Weeks” is a half-hour, weekly series that is “personality-driven,” featuring in-depth discussions with unique individuals and leading newsmakers from all walks of life. The program airs every Friday night at 9 p.m. on WSRE, PBS for the Gulf Coast with a repeat the following Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. Upcoming guests: Dr. Lonnie Paulos and Britt Landrum.
