Mama Lucky will be the featured performers of WSRE’s StudioAmped concert series on Friday, February 11 at 7 p.m. Born Linda Delgado, Mama Lucky grew up in east Texas in the 1950s, raised by a mom who owned a honky tonk on the Louisiana-Texas border. A product of the early Austin music scene, Mama Lucky rubbed shoulders with the likes of Townes Van Zandt and Shake Russell and spent two years opening for Willie Nelson in the mid-seventies. After being musically revived in 1999 by singing backup vocals for Jim White on his alt-country album in Pensacola, Florida, the formidable Mama Lucky began singing her own style of blues-influenced music. Mama Lucky is re-releasing the CD Barricades with two bonus tracks. Band members include: Linda Delgado (vocals, percussion); Gary Blount (keyboards, vocals); J.D. Cowen (drums, vocals); Pat Harvey (bass, vocals); and Mark Hawley (guitar, vocals). For more information on Mama Lucky, visit their website at myspace.com/mamaluckyfl.
