Author Lenny Miller on "Conversations with Jeff Weeks"

http://www.wsre.org - Thursday, December 16 at 7:30 p.m. on WSRE, "Conversations with Jeff Weeks" welcomes Leonard Miller, author of Racing While Black - How an African-American Stock Car Team Made Its Mark on NASCAR. Miller tells the story of how he and his father, former drag racer and team owner Leonard W. Miller, worked to create opportunities for African-American drivers in the big leagues of historically white NASCAR. His story is more than simply a story about car racing; it is a story about business, interesting personalities and perseverance. AutoWeek magazine listed Racing While Black as one of the top twelve books to read in 2010.

Lenny Miller and his father were the first African-American team owners to win a track championship in the history of NASCAR. During the 2005 season, Miller Racing Group driver Franklin Butler was victorious in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series, piloting the Miller's Chevrolet late model stock at Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas, Virginia.

"Conversations with Jeff Weeks" is a half-hour, weekly series that is "personality-driven," featuring in-depth discussions with unique individuals and leading newsmakers from all walks of life. The program airs Thursday nights at 7:30 p.m., Friday nights at 9 p.m. and Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. on WSRE, PBS for the Gulf Coast.
